R & S Processing Co. was started in
the early fifties by William Rouse and Kenneth Simpson. They had a small
40" rubber mill with a lightbulb dangling overhead in a 12' × 15' shed
in South Gate, CA. They worked day and night to get the little rubber
company started. In 1959, William and Kenneth decided to go their separate
ways, with William continuing R & S Processing Co. and Kenneth
starting Triple S Rubber.
Triple S Rubber is a rubber molding company and, to this day, is still
a customer of R & S. In 1960, James Inga went to work with William,
who was his uncle. In the late 1960s, they moved R & S to Paramount, CA, and
incorporated it in 1970. Together they built the company, adding equipment and
increasing sales.

William Rouse passed away in 1980, and for the next twenty
years, James Inga was President. Under his direction, the company flourished,
acquiring four internal mixers and five additional mills over the years.
R & S has now been in business for over forty years, and has eighty-five
employees, many of whom have been with the company for over twenty years.
Sadly, James Inga passed away in February 2000. At that time, Karen Kelly,
who had been with R & S since 1978, was promoted to President. R & S Processing
Co., Inc is a proud member of The Los Angeles Rubber Group, Inc. and hopes to
continue growing as it has for the last forty years.
